Type of course? Flat downland.

Pleasant staff? Yes.

Best hole? 17th. You have to carry a not insignificant jungle to reach the fairway from the tee and I like that kind of challenge.

Après golf? We raced home because we thought the world was about to end.

Nice round? It was my birthday, which we celebrated a bit heavily the day before, so I wasn’t feeling great. Maybe that’s why the course felt a bit monotonous and boring while everyone seems to agree that it’s excellent.

Special memory? Playing in an eerie atmosphere, with seagulls freaking out all over the place and the sky going orange and dark. Hurricane Ophelia whipping up Saharan sand and Portuguese forest fire ash, apparently.

Must play again? No. If I’m ever in the area, Seaford Head GC is much more fun.
