Type of course? Heathland/links. Founded exactly 200 years ago, it’s the 13th oldest course in the world.

Pleasant staff? Yes! The pro gave me courtesy of the course because I’m a Lady Captain even though I didn’t call beforehand. You’re supposed to.

Best hole? Hole 7 was beautiful and tricky.

Après golf? We had to rush off because it was time for some culture. Boring.

Nice round? Gorgeous and it could have been too slow for my liking as the course was busy, but both times we got stuck behind a fourball they let us through. We both played well and I lost the match on the 17th but got 34 points v 33, so really I won, strictly speaking.

Special memory? Both of us launching our balls on the green for a birdie chance on a par 3 in front of the all-male fourball ahead of us, as they were on the tee box next to it. That’s when they offered to let us through.

Must play again? Aye, but a bit far for two Southern lassies.
