Type of course? Parkland with lots of water – 14 out of 18 holes.

Pleasant staff? We spent three days there for our Women’s section Autumn break and the entire staff couldn’t have been more lovely and professional from beginning to end.

Best hole? The 16th is simply enchanting: an elevated tee, a sweeping dogleg left following a gorgeous lake with duck houses, a green framed by weeping willows and another pond on the right for good measure.

Après golf? Excellent local beers and good food in the spikes bar. And a pool table that only takes old pound coins.

Nice round? We all found the course very long and difficult (par 73 with a competition standard scratch of 78), but very interesting and beautiful, especially the back 9.

Special memory? Too many to list. We had a fantastic time.

Must play again? Absolutely.
